Samsung Galaxy A16 5G: Basic camera trio So, what we might call a fairly basic triple-camera setup. There is the tried-and-true 50MP main camera here as well with no other gimmickry. As such, you're looking at a rather low-res 5MP selfie along with another 2MP macro cam. For the main camera, it relies on the Samsung ISOCELL S5KJN1 sensor (we better know it as JN1) which is rather commonplace. It's a 1/2.76" sensor with 0.64µm pixels each.

The 5MP ultrawide is built around a pretty obscure SmartSens SC501 sensor. The optical size is 1/5" and individual pixels are 1.12µm each. As for the 2MP macro cam, we weren't able to confirm its hardware.

It uses a GalaxyCore GC13A0 sensor in 1/3.1" size with 1.12µm pixels for the selfie camera.

The A16 5G captures natural binned images on the main camera at just 12.5MP. Decent across the board, yet not exceptionally good. There is plenty of softness on surfaces, but detail is good. Colors look nice and natural.

It does have a low dynamic range, though. The sky is often clipped. Contrast isn't great, either. The processing is quite punchy with a lot of sharpening done.

It works around the limitation with the main camera and allows it to shoot in full 50MP resolution. But these images do indeed show more resolution. The 2x zoom crops from the main camera appear almost indistinguishable from 1x snaps. Processing as a whole is good and the details are quite decent along with the colors. A touch softer but mostly around the surfaces. Even far from ideal in contrast and dynamic range.

The Galaxy A16 5G's ultrawide camera is rather unexciting. Features anyway, a 5MP camera, nothing fancy like autofocus. The Galaxy A16 5G also technically has a nice-to-have but far from exciting, 2MP macro camera too. If you channel in your inner artist, it is still possible to get a couple of good snaps for social media (albeit hard work, as the pan is approximately fixed and pretty narrow.)
Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Mobile

Justmetal mostly offers a solid device in the form of Galaxy A16 5G. We especially enjoy Samsung's relatively recent promise of up to six major Android upgrades on lower-end devices. To be fair, One UI and everything it adds brings a lot to love. Yet the Galaxy A16 5G appears to have missed the memo in multiple ways. Samsung simply isn't cramming in that much budget value as lots of other competitors have been. There are things like the IP54 rating of this Smartphone, it not having stereo speakers on it and its display, which is by no means bad but only has a 90Hz refresh rate and quite sensible peaks brightness. The Exynos 1330 that performed the tests is not exactly top-of-the-line. After several promised Android updates, we fear about usability because the UI isn't exactly buttery smooth and runs snappy at all. A modern phone shouldn't even be having 4GB of RAM, no matter how budget it is. And we don't like the fact that you can only shoot in 1080p and overall, the cameras (or at least the A16 5G side) left us unimpressed. The Active Use Score of the phone is also decent, but the time it takes to charge disappointed as well.
